Irma Hoani of Hamilton, New Zealand has brought another friend from fantasy film to life! What a great expression for gentle Ludo, and the you got the fur just right! Amazing Irma. You’ve got me trying to guess which movie character will be next!

“Here are some pics of my latest needle felted sculpture: Ludo from the movie Labyrinth. He is needle felted of a blend of your teak and suede fast felting batts and nutmeg NZ Corriedale. He is 6″ tall and was felted over a wire armature.”

This adorable bear and bunny come from Sandra Leigh Bierer, daughter of Patricia Bierer who has been sharing her creations with us for some time now.  What a wonderful hobby to share! And we agree Sandra Leigh, you can do almost anything with wool! Its a wonderful medium to share with your family, friends, and community!

“Hi,  My name is Sandra Leigh Bierer, of Waukesha WI, these are a few of my creations.  Love felting, my Bellie Button babee Bunnie is 5ins and has wire armature and is done with merino felt.
My little bulldog faced bear is also done with merino felt and is also has an armature. This is so much fun. My mother and I have always loved art but this has given us so many opportunities to do so much. There is almost no limit and believe me, we  are taking this as far as our imagination can take us. Thank You for  giving everyone an outlet to show  our  talents.”

This amazing scene was created by Sheryl Smith of Van Nuys, CA.  What great details and textures! You have a gift for capturing movement Sheryl! And so resourceful, using the red from the Teak!  :)

“Here is my newest needle felted project, a field springer spaniel flushing a pheasant.  The dog is made from your white Merino Cross Batt, with black New Zealand Corriedale for the markings and white feathering on the dog.  The pheasant is made mostly from tones from your Flesh Tones pack. I didn’t have any red wool for the eyes but I was able to pick out some red slubs of fiber from the color “Teak” in the flesh tones pack!”

Carol Travis of Durban, South Africa, made these little cuties as part of 2 Teddy Bear workshops she led with her friends. Its great that you are sharing the joy of felting with your group! Thanks Carol!
“I did a workshop with some of my friends at the teddy group that I belong to.  We did a needle felted Christmas bear, just before Christmas last year.  This is a picture of my finished bear. Unfortunately I have learnt my lesson and will remember to take pictures of the workshop as it goes on.  The little bear head brooch, is another workshop I did with the ladies.  They were all given the same amount of felting wool and each one came out so totally different.  It just shows that even though the idea is the same, each person has their own interpretation.  I have even got ladies who were not interested in needle felting before to do the workshop.  It was fantastic. Many Thanks and hugs.”

Needle Felted Fall Pumpkins and Lavender Lambs! ~ by Lori Kompa August 19, 2010

Fun and fragrant! Lori Kompa of Pilesgrove, NJ, needle felted these figures to be both decorative and aromatic. Great idea for air fresheners, Lori! Thanks for sharing your technique with us!

“For my pumpkins I used butterscotch New Zealand Corriedale roving and needle felted a small ball.  Then I took cocoa roving and made the pumpkin lines and also made a stem from the cocoa. I then finished the pumpkin by adding little bits of ocean green locks to give it a vine look to the pumpkin.  I like to add a little oil to the pumpkins as well to give them a fall smell.

My lavender lambs are easy to make, I make a basic pipe cleaner body and wrap white merino-cross batting around it and lightly needle felt them.  For the ears and muzzle I use black wool craft felt and hot glue them on.  For the feet I cut small sticks which are hot glued and then I add a little more felt to cover them some.  I use a little dried lavender for decoration and drop a small amount of essential lavender oil in the fleece. “

Lori Kompa, of Pilesgrove, NJ, received some creative advice from her sons when felting these little cuties.  And don’t worry Lori, I’ve started many projects with one thing in mind, but the wool made it very clear that it was destined to be something else :) And it’s usually right! Great job on these.

“I am very new to the dry felting scene.  I have made a purse and now am attempting to make some wooly creatures.  My two year old gave me his wind up alligator and said “mom make me a wooly alligator”!  So I needle felted a little wooly alligator for him.  I used moss, lime, and cocoa New Zealand Corriedale roving.  For the teeth I used wool craft felt and glued them on.

I was attempting to make a needle felted cat and had a really hard time getting the right shape and my 4 year old son said “mom that looks like a bear, could I have it?” So thus a wooly polar bear came to be.  I used mainly white merino-cross felting batt wrapped around a pipe cleaner frame.  For the paws and eyes I used wool craft felt and cut out the shapes.  I used lady slipper for the tongue and inner ears.

All have been made from Living Felt Wool.  I have thoroughly enjoyed using your wool and look forward to making more…Thank you for your great website and blog.

Maggie Hughes of Surf City, NC shares with us some of her first projects. But no need to be so humble, Maggie – these are wonderful!  My second project was certainly not as detailed or ambitious as your surfer – I love his hair and toes! You’re doing great and I can’t wait to see more!

“[The] ducks [were] fun to do. [The] Surfer Dude [was my] 2nd project.[The] pixies I put in a friend’s shop. [The dog is] my sister’s dog, Missy.  All Living Felt wool.   I don’t consider these to be really good.  I decided to show them [so] other beginners can look at them and feel their projects aren’t so bad.”

Needle Felted Animals

Carol Travis of Durban,  South Africa, needle felted all these cute little critters! I love that elephant especially, Carol! Thank you for sharing these darlings with us!

“I have been needle felting for a little while now and really enjoy it.  I belong to a teddy bear club in Durban, South Africa.  I am crazy about bears and will try them in any medium I can. The felting wool I have ordered and received from you has been put to good use. I have needle felted these bears, bunnies, elephant, sheep, koala and panda onto pipe cleaners (I think you call them chenille stems).  It then gives them an armature, which allows you to pose them.  You have to be a bit more careful that you don’t break your needle, when felting, but it is worth all the time and effort.  Most of these little ‘animals’ are only between 2,5cm and 10cm.  I love the smaller ones.   The one panda whose arms are open and then closed is about 15cm.  I made this one specially for my Aunt who was visiting over here from Australia, earlier this year.  He is my biggest so far. Many Thanks for helping to make my ideas a reality. Hugs”
