Needle Felted Collie Purse

Needle Felted Collie Purse

Needle Felted Collie Purse

Collie breeder Shirley Schaffer needle felted this beautiful purse from her own roving- Collie fur! Shirley really loved the softness of the undercoat of her prize winning Collies, so she started making it into roving and yarn.

This is her first felting attempt with her new fiber and she did a fantastic job! She created this purse using the Living Felt Needle Felting a Purse Kit.

I guess this is one way to bring your dog with you wherever you go!

Great job Shirley, and Happy Holidays!

These wonderful nuno felted scarves were Vera’s first attempt! Wow! You can’t tell at all! They came out really well! Vera also says that she used Living Felt  Merino Top Fuschia, Raspberry, Marigold, Honey, Lima Bean, Garden Ivy and a Silk Scarf.

Needle and Wet Felted Purple Flowers Purse

This wonderful purse, Vera says, is her latest project. She used purple clemtis flowers (made using Merino Top Purple and Violet) to pop against the neutral tones of the purse (made with New Zealand Corriedale Natural Medium and Natural Dark). “Scraps of real silk fabric were used to make an interesting structure and composition. The Living Felt Bamboo Mat is a great way to perfect the round handles,” Vera said.

Felted Accessories

Check out Connie Haddock’s felted purse! Just gorgeous.
It is made of MC-2 batts in Water Lily, Azure and Raspberry.

“I painted a wooden button and made a felt focal piece for the middle, then added the flower and felt beads to the flap.  It is 13 1/2″ wide, 8 1/2″ tall and about 2 1/2″ deep; the strap is 26″ long.  I will be putting it on the wall of my craft room as decoration.”

Also attached are pictures of her first felt bead necklace.  It is hand-knotted and includes crystals, gold-leaf bead caps and silk cord.

“I can handle wool with my hands, but can’t wear it against my skin, so I made this long enough to be put under the neck of a turtleneck pullover.  It is also in the colors of my fav season – fall!”

“Hope you enjoy seeing what I’ve been up to.  As always, love, joy, peace and, of course, Happy Felting!!”

Karen Grant of Pueblo, CO needle felted these beautiful items as her first three projects and now she’s been bitten by the felting bug!  Looks like you’ve discovered a new talent as well as a new passion – these are wonderful, Karen!!

“I just wanted to share with everyone my first three projects.  It all started when I saw an embellishing machine at our local sewing center.  I came home & sat in front of the computer for hours researching felting and found your website.  I ordered your purse kit, then your hat kit.  My husband says it’s a good thing he doesn’t mind cleaning the house because I am addicted to this craft!!  Anyway thanks for getting me started!”

This pretty patch-worked purse was needle felted by Judy Livengood of Traverse City, Michigan.  I’m sure lots of love was felted into this purse along with those beautiful colors of wool. Now it is something to cherish as a beautiful item as well as a memory.  Thank you for sharing your art and your story with us,  Judy.  We wish you love and comfort and many blessings.

“I have been felting for 1 year. My husband died on March 30th and I worked on this purse all winter. I just completed it and I call it my “Bob Purse”. I had no pattern in mind. My husband had Alzheimer’s for 7 years and the last one he was in a care facility. I sat on the bed with my wool and just tried different textures.  The base of the purse is alpaca wool from a farm near my home in Traverse City, MI. My next project is Christmas items. Good luck to you . . . I love your website and the positive messages you send.”
