Looks like Patricia Bierer, of Muskego, WI, is getting ready for the winter months with her holiday Santa and beautifully detailed vest. We love seeing your projects, Patricia. You always have something new and fun to work on. Fantastic!
“After I received your cd of how to make a santa it was very helpful and away I went . . . the colors I used were garnet, hemlock, white, and flesh. . . he is 12in high, now I just have to make another one!
This vest was needle felted by hand and a needle felting machine. I used pieces of hand felted roving and put the design on by hand and machine. I used Merino wool. It goes good with the hat [I made] and now I have to make a skirt. House work can wait, felting is first!”
Patricia e. Bierer ~ Muskego, WI
Both pieces are very impressive examples of felting and both are beautiful.

Patricia, very charming work! I am interested in a needlefelting machine. What kind do you have? I don’t know whether to invest in a dedicated machine, or look for a used machine and buy a conversion kit.

If I did the attatchment, I was going to buy a used machine, and remove the bobbin assembly, totally dedicate the used machine for felting. My main concern was that the adaptation kits do not have many needles.
So which is better, the 7 needle or the 12? I am assuming that with the 12 you can change the number of needles that you are using at a time?
Did you make the camel fabric for the vest too?

I have the seven needle one its great the 12 needle one is too fast for me …you can replace one needle at a time so sometimes I have 3 needles and it still works I bought it on line.really love this machine.also the tan on my vest is a wool patricia

You have definately captured the knack of felting. Love the Santa. I have never tried machine felting but with this Christmas season I have felted so much that my wrist says “buy a machine:”.
Love it and keep up the good work!
