The Blonde Bombshell
Beth Drucker calls this piece “The Blonde Bombshell.”
“First I sketched in the face, then I figured out what kind of hair I wanted it to have. I drew the “hair” out separately on a piece of flat, felted wool fabric, then needle felted the dyed fiber/hair onto the felted wool fabric. I used a couching stitch to keep the wool in place. Then I hand-sewed the hair onto the denim jacket. The beret is velvet fabric attached with french knots. The face is painted and embroidered. There are also leather, crystals, beads, and nailhead trim embellishing the rest. It is lined with a re-cycled tablecloth.”
The hair for this image was done with felted raw fiber dyed “blonde!”
We suggest stepping back a few steps to view the image. It’s really stunning!
