The Elements of Peace – In Honor of International Day of Peace

Pat Cole from Elmira, NY, created this landscape to honor peace. The International Day of Peace is September 21.

This landscape (my first!! and only my 3rd felt project) is my entry for the Peace Felt exchange. It represents the idea that striving for world peace includes providing clean water, food, and safe shelter for everyone. The design was inspired by an article in Quilting Arts magazine by Laura Wasilowski.

“The design was felted on a piece of wool felt using various colors of New Zealand Corriedale wool and accented with hand embroidery because I liked the combination of the sheen of the floss against the matte finish of the wool.”
