Sweet Pea Felts a True Delight for Your Inner Child
Amy Brand is from Upstate New York, and she is the inspired artist behind Sweet Pea Felts.
If this is the first time you are seeing her work, you are in for a real treat! Her delightful style is incredibly captivating and makes one feel like they are “right there” IN some teeny, tiny, magical moment.
At the time of this writing, Amy shared, “I have been felting for 4 years,
and feel like I finally found a medium I will never grow tired of.”
In addition to creating her soft sculptures, she also teaches felting classes and provide demos in her local area. In the spring of 2012, Amy’s work was exhibited at The Strong National Museum of Play as part of their Whimsical Art Trail.
“When teaching classes, I often tell my students that needle felting is a very fluid art form.
You can add to, take away from, and continue to make adjustments until you feel a piece is completed.”
“I love that I am working with natural materials.
Not needing any machines or chemicals to complete the process is also a huge draw for me.”
“I strive to create pieces that look as if they could come to life the moment you turn your back.
I often use an armature to help achieve that sense of animation.
The moment when a piece comes to life in my hands always feels a bit like magic.”
