“STASH” a Needle Felted Elf doll by Living Felt founder, Marie Spaulding.

“I think he will continue to be a work in progress, probably because he has touched my heart so much in working on him. I feel a bit like Gepetto, hoping one day he will come to life as a real elf.”

He is needle felted over wire armature starting with CW-1 Core Wool using MC-1 Felting batts (felt batting).  For his skin, MC-1 Fleshtone, his acorn hat  and felted boots use MC-1 Willow, his tights are MC-1 Linen.  His tunic is nuno felted over silk using merino top, silk hankies, and mohair locks.  He is crouching and stands 27″ tall as posed.

His name is “Stash” because he has a little hoard of treasures that he finds on his travels.  He scoops up each one and cherishes it, thinking they belong to no one and he can have them for his very own.

Stash currently hangs out at the Living Felt shop :O)

  1. You really have done a beautiful job on this little guy Marie ! I was giving him a good scan lol! His design is so cohesive and consistent, the colours are homogenous most importantly however is that you have given him life. Well done suitably impressed!

    • Thank you so much, Richard, for your kind extension. I really had such a wonderful time making him and enjoy the larger format as well. I hope to be first in line if you come out with a book or some tutorials — we all want the 411 on Richard Hannah’s color blending techniques 🙂
