Beautiful Needle Felted Lake Superior
Scraps aren’t trash. Think of them as art “yet to be realized.” This beautiful and highly textural work of art by Joy Hogg is a great reminder of this idea and perfect for this week’s celebration of Mother Earth in so many ways!
Storm Over Lake Superior 10″ x 12″
“Silk hankie in grey can be the cliffs of Lake Superior shores being splashed by foam, or storm clouds. The water was a piece created for something else and needle felted to the background. The faint red in the foreground was also a scrap from another “failed” felt, needle felted to this picture. The yellow watery foam is silk.
The lesson to me: Don’t throw away failures or cut away pieces. And silk hankies give a lovely 3 dimensional feel plus a bit of textural difference.”
