This is a fine and FUN HAT — we love the shape and design.
“This hat was made using Living Felt medium hat block and the extension. Living Felt Black Onyx MC -1 Batt with alpaca sandwiched in between layers. It was wet felted then more batt was needle felted over top which added strength and a finished look. The hat band was left over felting and Lincoln Locks are the embellishment.
Thank you for supplies and knowledge you provide.”

We LOVE this gorgeous ensemble designed and felted for us by Erin and Steve Whalen of Wisconsin.
Felting is something this lovely couple has learned they like to do together! Erin designed the hat and did the felting; Steve did the fulling, shaping, and finishing. Each piece is so artful, soft and beautiful.
For this custom creation, they used our Merino Top in Bitter Chocolate, Tide pool, Mushroom, Atlantic, Cornflower; plus a pink merino inside to achieve some migration to the top.
The matching scarf, pin and hat band were gifts that we so cherish! These are currently on display in our shop, but we’re pretty sure Marie will be eyeing them come Winter 😉
Steve Whalen is felting with his wife, Erin, and we were so happy to receive this submission for this hat he made! His hats weigh 4.5 – 5oz and are wet felted over a resist, and then shaped on a hat block. This one is made with Living Felt MC-1 Felting Batts True Violet and accented with Multi-Colored Merino Top Cranberry.
A note from Erin:
“I consider myself extremely lucky to have a hubby who spins, weaves and now, wet felts! We’ve taken several wet felting classes together and have since modified and improved our techniques.
We’ve recently started making wet felted hats over a resist. This is my husband’s latest hat. I’m a little biased, but I think his work is fabulous! It’s amazing how straight he can get the brim. (Real men DO wet felt – LOL!!)”

We LOVE this felted hat by Evelyn Pinney in Colorado! She used our hat form and brim for needle felting and finish with wet felting. Just gorgeous!
