Needle Felting Realistic Cats, Lions, Tigers, etc! Needle felt a domestic cat, wild cat or other big cat.
Award winning artist Megan Nedds joins us from Ohio to share her techniques for needle felting incredibly realistic needle felted animals.
Megan has made hundreds of realistic needle felted animals and will share all she can fit into these 3-days to help you sculpt an amazing work of art.

During this 3-day class, we will be exploring feline characteristics while everyone makes their choice of cat.
Cats can be challenging to sculpt because they are uniquely shaped, but this class will help you achieve that signature feline contour.
We will also focus on cat faces and fine tune details such as coat and paws.

Megan says, “I love working with Living Felt’s MC-1 fast felting batts because they are the perfect consistency for felting. They are so soft and the colors are perfect. When I use them, I know my sculptures will turn out great!”

If you want to make a Santa, you can do that! This will be a great opportunity to follow your inspiration.
If you prefer to attempt a more abstract doll using found objects, that will be supported also. (bring the found objects with you)

This workshop is specifically designed as an in-depth experience to help you felt detailed dolls in just a few days.

Magical Millinery – Felting Fantasy Hats
3-days with Kate Koprowski of HandiCraftKate

Call us with questions 1- 877-665-5790

Date: Feb 15-17, 2018
Time: 9am- 4pm Thursday- Saturday
Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Workshop Description:
This February spend three days on-location in beautiful Austin Texas delving into a felting workshop that will introduce you to the art of millenary.

The focus of this workshop will be the construction of three different types of fantasy hats through the use of resist felting.

Each of the three hats that students construct will require a specifically shaped resist to create a seamless and hollow 2-D hat “blank”. In order to transform the 2-D hat blank into a 3-D wearable fantasy hat sculpture the students will learn several different blocking techniques and approaches. This workshop will give students the basic felting techniques at the core of every 3-D project by covering: resist making, measuring, shaping, thinking in 2-D forms to create 3-D shapes, shaping and finishing. This is an intermediate level class-for those with some feltmaking experience. If you are a beginning feltmaker you may find this class challenging but not overwhelmingly so.”

Possible Project One “Pixie Hood”
Possible Project Two “Fantasy Fedora”
Possible Project Three “Witch Hat”

Needle Felting Realistic Animals Workshop

Needle Felted Animals Workshop with Megan Nedds of The Woolen Wagon featured on www.livingfelt.com/blog

We really enjoyed hosting Megan Nedds of The Woolen Wagon and all the fabulous participants (including Megan’s Dad, Jody!)

The class was needle felting realistic animals, and Megan took us through each step one at a time, allowing everyone to make the animal of their choice. Critters included dogs, wolves, caribou, bunny, genet, meerkat, fox, kangaroo, a bear and mountain lion. Most everyone left with more work to do because spending time on the details was so much fun.

It was a fun and inspiring weekend!

We formed shapes from wire armature, covered them in Core Wool, added MC-1 Batting, NZ Corriedale, and other natural fibers for coats, horse hair whiskers and added Glass Eyes to finish them off!

See lots more pictures on our Facebook page here!
